Also known as Messageboards, forums are a very popular and dynamic way to get traffic to flow through your site and have people keep coming back for more. Forums are a series of indexes with topics that allow anyone to sign up and post replies and comments to everyone else, basically a community on the web.

Along with getting people to revisit the website, forums are a great way to help gather feedback, discuss important subjects, or just have a fun chat session.

I have personally used phpBB and was greatly satisfied because of it's easy to use admin interface, clean format, and very customizable interface with many options for addons. The best part is you don't need to know one bit about programming! Everything is controlled by you with the admin control panel.

PhpBB is protected by the GNU () so you can edit any of the coding without getting permission. Their user forum is also full of mods to add to spice up that messageboard. My personal favorite is the arcade addon.
